Are you ready to take control of the internet? We just dropped in a whole bunch of new features into Opera GX that will change the way you use your favorite browser.  

Picture this: you’re in the middle of a crucial raid, and you need to quickly check your character’s stats, follow a complex online guide, and keep an eye on your stream chat. The old way? You’d chaotically switch tabs, lose your focus, and end in disastrous defeat, leading your teammates to rage-quit because, as always, this was your fault. The new way? Easy, efficient multitasking with Opera GX’s latest update!

Split your screen and squeeze the life out of those dormant pixels. You can now have two web pages side-by-side, which is PERFECT for comparing loot drops while simultaneously checking the dungeon guide, builds, or rotations. No more tab switching – just pure efficiency! To use it, simply drag a tab down to connect it to either side of your current tab, or select two tabs, right-click, and choose Create Split Screen from the context menu.

Ever open a dozen tabs and then lose track of where you were? This new update makes it incredibly easy to find what you need, quickly. Opera GX makes it simple to retrace your five last visited tabs and instantly access recently visited pages. This is especially helpful during gaming sessions, ensuring you can easily switch between your game and browser. The Tab Traces feature appears automatically when there are at least 30 tabs opened. You can change the minimum number of tabs required to display this tab tracing feature in Settings.

Let’s face it: gamers are notorious for having many tabs open: guides, streams, forums, lore,  social media – it’s a digital playground out there. Opera GX’s new update transforms this chaos into organized efficiency. You can now manage a group of tabs and organize them by topic, like game guides, wiki, shopping, or favorite content creators. If you don’t need to display them, just collapse your Tab Islands to save more space. New Tab Islands are created automatically when links from a page are opened in new tabs (either manually by using a context menu), or if the page opens new tabs.

If you’re really feeling extra fancy, you can add one of hundreds of emojis to your tabs! Yep, you read that right: you can add a cute little skull emoji to your gaming tab, a fire emoji to your newsfeed, the pizza emoji to your food delivery page so you can instantly spot the tab you’re looking for. It’s all about the customization and control over your browser. 

Opera GX has also integrated Bluesky app directly into the sidebar, keeping conversations and updates just a click away. This keeps you connected without disrupting your workflow. Opera GX already has Discord, Twitch, WhatsApp, X, TikTok, and Instagram built into the sidebar.

The new Opera GX update is available now. To test Tab Emojis and Tab Islands, simply enable Early Bird in your Opera GX Settings to get started. The rest of the features – like Split Screen, Tab Traces, and Bluesky – have already been updated to the stable version of Opera GX.
